Presented by Professor Christine Bigby, La Trobe University, Living with Disabilty Research Centre

Group homes are a very significant part of the system of services that supports people with intellectual disability. Approximately half of all Australian disability expenditure is on accommodation and most of this is on group homes.  

 What is the workshop is about?

  1. Hearing about the latest research related to group homes
  2. Learning about the impact of the culture in group homes and the role of local leadership
  3. Taking off rose coloured glasses
  4. The alternatives to group homes
  5. Networking with your peers

  • Those living with an intellectual disability & their families
  • Service coordinators /case workers

  • Professional staff who support individuals living in group homes
