What is this discussion about?
The Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability (ASID) supports people with intellectual disability by promoting research and practice that helps people share their own lived experience.
This one-day conference is hosted by the Queensland Division of ASID. It will include keynotes, individual presentations and parallel sessions, providing an opportunity for people with intellectual disability and supporters to meet up and share their thoughts and opinions on three important questions:
- What is working well?
- What is not working?
- What’s next?
People who would find this conference helpful include:
- Academic researchers
- Lived experience researchers
- Workers or Practitioners
- And peer advocates.
You are invited to attend and/or also submit an abstract and address any or all of these three questions in relation to issues that confront people with intellectual disability, including:
Employment, Violence, Parenting, Homelessness, Inclusive research, Self-advocacy, Health and mental health, NDIS and other support systems, Education, Criminal legal system, Supported decision making, Social inclusion.
*Morning tea and lunch will be included
