About

Graham will reflect on implementing and operating a service-for-one model to build a better quality of life for his profoundly disabled son. Graham deals with recruitment, training, sourcing appropriate professional advice, implementing the necessary support processes and systems. This event would be of interest to academics and practitioners working in the disability field, along with families considering a more tailored option for caring for a loved one.

Graham Taylor
Graham’s professional engineering career spans nearly 40 years, working in government and private sectors at both state and national level. As well as delivering complex projects, Graham has had the opportunity to work in strategic planning and corporate guidance. He has also established and operated service delivery teams, developed business processes, and put in place supporting business systems.

As well as tertiary qualifications in engineering and business management, Graham has a research masters and patents in the use of GPS for heavy vehicle operations.

In 2017 Graham stepped away from his career to be more hands-on in caring for his profoundly disabled son, Mitchell; and to focus on building a better quality of life for him. Since mid-2018 Graham has established and run a service-for-one care model for Mitchell, dealing with all aspects of the service – recruitment, training, sourcing appropriate professional advice, implementing the necessary support processes and systems.

As well as overseeing his son’s care, Graham is a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Brisbane South Primary Health Network, and a sessional academic for QUT’s Master of Professional Engineering and Master of Engineering Management programs.
