Including board directors with intellectual disabilities
ASID supports the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities to be included in organisational governance. Governance refers to setting an organisation’s direction and making sure that the board and organisation complies with its legal responsibilities.
Like many areas of Australian law, corporate governance law has not kept up with the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. ASID is committed to asking for changes to the law.
