The Disability Royal Commission encouraged disability service providers to include people with disabilities on the boards of their organisations. Many organisations have appointed directors with disabilities. Only one large service provider has appointed a person with intellectual disabilities. ASID sought a legal opinion from Professor Ian Freckleton about legal issues in appointing people with intellectual disabilities as board members.
